Dos And Don'ts In The UAENo public displays of affection between people of different genders, including married couples Don't show the soles of your feet to the people around you Do show respect for the culture and abide by cultural norms while wearing national dress Men cannot shake hands with a woman unless she extens her hand first Men cannot look at or compliment women Do not take pictures of people without their permission, especially women Don't express admiration for someone else's possessions because they may feel like they have to give it to you (and you would have to give something back) *There are more in the link*

Some of this we may already know. I didn't know about not admiring people's things. I wouldn't want anyone to feel like I was stealing feom them. I do have a habit of getting overly friendly and complimenting people on their things very often. I would have to be careful in the UAE.

That's funny. Thank you for sharing. My ex is Vietnamese but I didn't speak the language so I never noticed that. I'm also old-fashioned in that I expect the man (if we were dating- I don't expect my friends to do this) to pay for my food without having to pay them back. If I were out with friends, I'd pay my own way if I can and reimburse them later if I don't have it at the time.
